Arcade World Props

A project showcasing the creation of props in a gamified world with a sci-fi-based theme. The intention of this project was to apply my understanding of the functionalities of firearms, lockers, LEDs, and bags into conceptual props that fit the theme and world-building.

The Process

References and initial concepts for the props. With a gamified world, I chose to create a locker that would open after hammering a button and hitting a certain score, a flashlight that showed the way through a Pacman hologram, andd a gun that shoots energy-based bullets, inspired by arcade light guns. Both pictures show the ideation of the props, with the right having color-coded parts to distinguish the different functional parts of the prop.

From left to right, initial 3D blocking was done to finalize the composition of the props (with some 3D assets initially obtained from Sketchfab). Asides from that, assigning of material, and rendering of lighting were done in Autodesk Maya. The camera angle’s intention for each prop would be like a character select screen.

Final digital paintover was done in Adobe Photoshop. Meanwhile, the layout, text, and other information were done in Canva.
