Vulkan

A character sheet of my original character, Vulkan the Dawnbreaker.

The Process

References and initial concept creation for Vulkan. As part of the defeated light faction, the initial intention was for him to look ragged and defeated, but still defiant. He would be a paladin who would take up his mantle as a commander again.

Initial render for Vulkan. The left shows his flats, and the right shows his initial render for the front and back of his figure. During this period, I was making armor render too chromatic. Fortunately, I received guidance from my teacher, Kunkka, in properly rendering armor that wouldn’t be too chromatic and shiny.

Final render for Vulkan. The armor render definitely changed from the previous, but looking back, there definitely could’ve been more improvements on its render, such as adding depth to the armor cracks, and adding proper chinks, scratches, and dirt to the armor.
